The scheme “Bharat Steel Awards” has been implemented by the Ministry of Steel, Government of India. It aims to honour organisations and individuals for exemplary performance and significant contributions to the Indian steel sector. Through this scheme, recognition in the form of awards and incentives is provided to steel companies, industry teams, and individuals contributing to sectoral growth and transformation.

- Efficiency Award: ₹1,00,000 cash prize (secondary steel producers only)
- Innovation Through R&D Award: ₹1,00,000 cash prize (secondary steel producers only)

- Note: Large integrated steel producers (ISPs) are recognized but do not receive cash prizes

- For the individual Exceptional Contribution Award: must be an Indian citizen, age 25–60 years, with a Bachelor's degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science, or equivalent

Applications are scrutinised by a Screening Committee of Experts and finalised by the Award Making Authority constituted by the Ministry of Steel.
