The scheme "Free Medical Assistance" by the Tribal Development Department, Government of Gujarat, aims to provide financial assistance for expensive medical treatments to people of Scheduled Tribes. Through this scheme, monetary aid is provided to Scheduled Tribe individuals suffering from diseases like tuberculosis, cancer, leprosy, HIV/AIDS, sickle cell anaemia, and thalassemia, as well as for serious maternity cases and anaemia in women.

- Serious maternity / female genital mutilation cases: ₹2,000 per case
- Leprosy / tuberculosis: ₹2,000 per month until recovery

Who Can Apply (Eligibility)
- Must be a Gujarat resident belonging to a Scheduled Tribe (ST) community
- Annual family income must not exceed ₹6,00,000 (for most qualifying diseases)
- For HIV/AIDS: income limit is ₹27,000/year (rural) or ₹35,000/year (urban)
- Must be diagnosed with a qualifying condition: tuberculosis, cancer, leprosy, HIV/AIDS, sickle cell anaemia, thalassemia, serious maternity case, or anaemia
How to Apply
Step 1: The interested applicant should visit the Office of the Chief District Health Officer, and request the hard copy of the prescribed format of the application form from the staff.
Step 2: In the application form, fill in all the mandatory fields, and attach copies of all the mandatory documents (self-attest, if required).
Step 3: Submit the duly filled and signed application form along with the documents, within the prescribed period (if any), to the Chief District Health Officer.
