Launched in 2015-16, the scheme "Mukhyamantri Nidan Yojana" (also known as "Free Laboratory Testing Scheme") by the Health and Family Welfare Department, Government of Gujarat, aims to provide quality diagnostic facilities without charge at all government health institutions and ensure timely and accurate diagnosis of diseases like malaria, tuberculosis, cancer, diabetes, hypertension to reduce morbidity and mortality in communities. The scheme provides free essential pathology, biochemistry, hematology, microbiology testing services at all government health institutions and strengthens existing laboratory facilities with quality equipment and trained staff along with regular supply of reagent kits.
