The “National Family Benefit Scheme” is a centrally sponsored scheme implemented in Gujarat by the Social Justice and Empowerment Department, Government of Gujarat. The scheme aims to provide social security to households living below the poverty line by offering financial assistance in the event of the death of the primary breadwinner. Under the scheme, a one-time lump sum assistance of ₹20,000 is provided to the widow or unmarried daughter of the deceased, if the primary breadwinner, aged between 18 and 59 years, passes away.

Step 2: In the application form, provide all the mandatory details, and attach copies of all the mandatory documents (self-attested, if required). Step 3: Submit the duly filled and signed application form along with the supporting documents to the office of Gram Panchayat of their respective village. Submission and Approval:

  • The Taluka Mamlatdars are authorized to approve or disapprove the assistance under this scheme.

Appeal Process:

  • In case an application is disapproved, an appeal can be made to the Prant Officer/Sub-Divisional Officer /SDO within 60 days of the disapproval.
