The scheme "State Mountaineering Reward Scheme" was launched by the Sports, Youth and Cultural Activities Department, Government of Gujarat. The scheme aims to provide awards in the field of mountaineering is in place to enthusiastically engage and inspire the youth of the state towards risky and adventurous activities like summiting, mountaineering and rock climbing and to honor and commend the youth of the state who have achieved exceptional achievements in the field of mountaineering. Under the scheme, a cash award, a memento, and a certificate will be awarded to each of the adventurers of the state every year for their outstanding achievements in the field of mountaineering.

Who Can Apply (Eligibility)
- Must be a native of Gujarat
- Must have climbed a peak of 7,000 meters or above (at least once), OR climbed a peak above 6,000 meters on at least two separate occasions
- Climbing achievement must be certified by the Director of the Indian Mountaineering Foundation (IMF)
- Must not have received this award before (one-time honor per person)
- Must not have any criminal record
- Award can be given posthumously; the legal heir may apply

A person who has previously received an award in this field will not be eligible for the award.
