A sanitation scheme for the construction of Individual Household Latrines (IHHL) for urban households. The Mission has the following components:
Household toilets, including conversion of insanitary latrines into pour-flush latrines.
Community toilets
Public toilets
Solid waste management
IEC & Public Awareness
Capacity building and Administrative & Office Expenses (A&OE)

How to Apply
- Visit the SBM-Urban IHHL portal and create a login ID using your name, mobile number, email, address, and ID details.
- After logging in, enter your geographical details (state, district, urban local body, ward number).
- Fill in the toilet owner's details including Aadhaar number and bank account details.
- Upload your photograph.
- Submit the application; an acknowledgement slip with your Application ID will be generated.
- The grant amount is transferred directly to your bank account via Aadhaar-linked DBT.
Frequently Asked Questions
How will I receive my financial support under the Scheme?
All financial incentives will be deposited directly (by electronic clearing service) into the bank accounts of the beneficiary households (including accounts opened under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana). No cash/cheque disbursals shall take place.
Will I receive the entire amount in one go if I am eligible for the scheme?
No, 50% of the incentive will be released on approval by the ULB. Remaining 50% of Central Government incentive as 2nd instalment should be released to the identified beneficiary household upon verification of physical progress of construction of the household toilet.
