A scheme by MoST for female candidates with a break in their career interested in addressing societal challenges through viable S&T interventions. 1-year training is provided in Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs), patent search, know-how, drafting, filing, trademarks, trade secrets, and copyright, in association with various Knowledge Partners (i.e. Law firms, Knowledge Processing Organizations (KPOs), Companies, Government agencies, and so on). The scheme is being implemented by the Patent Facilitating Centre of Technology Information Forecasting & Assessment Council (TIFAC). Minimum essential qualifications are Master of Science; Bachelors in Engineering/Technology or equivalent. Proficiency in handling computerized databases, collection, collation, analysis, and report preparation is desirable.

Benefits

  • ₹35,000 per month for Ph.D. in basic or applied sciences or MD/equivalent
  • ₹30,000 per month for M.Phil/M.Tech/M.Pharm/M.VSc or equivalent
  • ₹25,000 per month for M.Sc./MBBS/B.Tech or equivalent
  • 1-year structured training in patent search, patent drafting and filing, trademarks, trade secrets, and copyright law

Who Can Apply (Eligibility)

  • Must be a woman between 27 and 45 years of age
  • Must have a career break (not currently in permanent employment)
  • Minimum qualification: M.Sc. in basic or applied sciences, or B.E./B.Tech. or equivalent
  • Women in regular permanent employment are not eligible

Women in permanent position are not eligible to apply.

Women scientists, less than 27 years of age are not eligible.

I Have Undergone Partial Training In 2016 Batch But I Need To Apply Again. Can I Do So?

Those who have already undergone training (partially or fully) in any of the earlier batches or those who are undergoing training in the ongoing batch are not eligible to apply.

Is there a minimum qualification in order to be eligible for this scheme?

Yes, the minimum essential qualification for applying to WOS-C is: Master of Science; Bachelors in Engineering / Technology or equivalent.
